Job Description

This position assists the personnel function of the department by performing a variety of personnel functions by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Processes Personnel Status Changes (PSC) adhering to strict deadlines, including voluntary and involuntary terminations, merit increases, location/shift changes, rate changes, etc. and investigate PSC's that do not follow the personnel policies and procedures working closely with the department, prepares and submits a Payroll Change Notice (PCN) to the Payroll Department.
  • Sorts and distributes payroll in a timely manner, maintaining a file system for termination, vouchers, annual and unclaimed checks.
  • Provides assistance to departments and employees requesting information such as rate of pay, date of hire, resignation, address changes etc.
  • Performs, clerical duties such as filing, spread sheet development, data entry and tracking.
  • Prepares, maintains and updates Official Personnel Files (OPF) ensuring that all documents are completed and approved by the department management staff.
  • Responsible for the file maintenance and data entry in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS). 
  • Maintains a dependable work attendance record with extremely infrequent absences and/or lateness.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Skills / Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and six to twelve months of clerical, personnel or human resources experience. 
  • Two to five years data entry experience, at high speed and with high accuracy.
  • Must have dependable transportation, a valid AZ Driver License and current vehicle insurance to travel between enterprise locations.
  • Must have intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite software. 
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and agree to maintain a Drug-Free Workplace as a condition of employment.
  • Must pass a full background check to be certified/licensed prior to employment.
  • Must be able to work in a smoking environment.
