Job Description

This position is responsible for protecting the assets of the casino operations, developing corporate wide purchasing guidelines and policies. Director of Purchasing works with each property to ensure that volume discounts are obtained. Furthermore, The Director Purchasing is also responsible managing the procurement process for capital projects and for ensuring that sales tax savings are achieved in such projects, as well as demonstrating the GILA WAY. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promotes and provides excellent guest service experiences to both internal and external guests.
  • Reviews and approves purchase order placement of purchasing assistants and buyers for accuracy and optimum service delivery, including the best pricing.
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy. 
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies and procedures.
  • Meets with vendors to negotiate improved pricing, product quality and delivery. 
  • Negotiating and supervising supply contracts and formulating policies and procedures. 
  • Responsible for mentoring and developing Pathways Mentorship Program participants to successfully transition to management level positions.
  • Maintains a dependable work attendance record with extremely infrequent absences and/or lateness.. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises multiple level employees and influences many others at multiple levels of the Enterprise. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Skills / Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • Experience in purchasing & sourcing with extensive experience in the inventory management industry required preferably in a strategic setting in a mid to large size organization. 
  • Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes and procedures, as well as knowledge of warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures.  
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers Microsoft Office Suite Software and Enterprise specific programs.
